Sony Online Entertainment has just announced the first download pack for DC Universe Online, Fight For the Light, which will cast characters on both sides of the fight between the Green Lantern and Sinestro Corps. If that wasn't enough to whet your whistle, heroes and villians will get to wield power rings. Really, how cool is that?
As you might expect, the new power set, Light, comes with a set of 24 powers, and players can choose to respect their level 30 characters or start anew with brand-new, light-infused characters. The power set is equal for both heroes and villians, with visual effects providing the only difference between the two. The storyline that was presented in the game's base release -- of the Green Lantern and Sinestro Corps rings losing their potency -- will be revealed as a plot by Brainiac, who is siphoning off the rings' powers with his "logic lanterns." And players wishing to don the appropriate duds will be able to don their choice of green or yellow uniforms.
On the non-GL front, the download pack will include four new content areas: three four-person alerts, in S.T.A.R. Labs, the Sciencells on Oa, and in Hal Jordan's home of Coast City, as well as a duo instance in Coast City. The pack will be available for $9.99 as a digital download this summer.
