MMO gamers making the trek to San Diego this year for Comic-Con will be able to get some hands-on time with the much anticipated Guild Wars 2 by stopping by the NCSoft booth (#5345) at this year's show, July 20-24. Fans will also be able to meet some of the game's artists and developers, as well as get a look at the new F2P version of City of Heroes.
According to the press release, players will be able to try their hands at the Norn starter area, first profiled at PAX East in March, as well as "dive into the deep" and sample the underwater combat recently shown off at the ArenaNet open house in June. The focus on City of Heroes is a natural for the comics convention (there are still comics at Comic-Con, right?), which will also demonstrate the first playable build of the Incarnate Raids.
NCSoft will also host three other events at the show:
- "City of Heroes Freedom The Future of Super-Powered MMOs" On July 21, from 4:30 to 5:40 p.m. (Room 24 ABC), the City of Heroes' very own design team, Paragon Studios™, will be presenting a panel on how they will once again redefine the online gaming space in 2011.
- "Rethinking the Online RPG: How Guild Wars 2 Explores New Dimensions in Social Gaming" On July 23, from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. (Room 23 ABC) ArenaNet, the award winning design team for Guild Wars 2, will be presenting a panel set to examine how the lore, design, and gameplay of Guild Wars 2 combine to deliver a fresh, social approach to online fantasy RPGs.
- "San Diego Meet & Greet" On July 22, from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m., NCsoft will be hosting their annual community meet & greet at the Hard Rock Hotel where fans can meet fellow players of their favorite NCsoft games while chatting with City of Heroes Freedom and Guild Wars 2 developers and artists. Please note however, admission to the event is limited to NCsoft San Diego Meet & Greet ticket holders only and is granted on a first-come, first-served basis to the capacity of the venue.
