City of Heroes Freedom Goes Live

E-mail Print

City of Heroes Tutorial Load ScreenStrap on your spandex and get your energy blasts ready -- NCSoft and Paragon Studios have flipped the F2P switch on City of Heroes, and the newest incarnation of the game, City of Heroes Freedom is now live, along with the newest update, Issue 21: Convergence, which includes a new zone, powers, costumes, and more.

New players will find a semi-friendly home in First Ward, a new training area for beginner heroes where they'll also get a taste of the zone-wide event, the Seed of Hamidon. During this starting experience, all power sets and archetypes are available, and players will decide over the course of their first few hours whether to align themselves with heroics or villainy.

For more experienced players, Convergence brings with it the Underground Incarnate Trial, in the secret lair of the Devouring Earth. New power sets include Time Manipulation (free for VIP players), Beam Rifle, and Street Justice, and the expansion marks the debut of monthly Signature Story Arcs (also free for VIPs), which allow players to fight alongside the icon heroes and villains of Paragon City.
