If you play Fallen Earth and own an iPhone, you're in for some exciting times. Not only are we currently learning more details about the iPhone application that is in development (and on display at GDC as we speak), but we've also heard that there has been a Macintosh-compatible MMO platform released for the game, with a beta client available for interested candidates.
We first heard the announcement about the iPhone app back in November and since then have been eagerly awaiting any information we could get our hands on. What we’ve learned so far is that this is not your everyday application.
In addition to providing the ability to chat and to send and receive in-game mail, the app allows users to perform a number of other tasks, such as:
- Manage crafting queue and craft items
- Access all of the in-game features of the Auction House
- Interact with clan members
- View character profiles
- View the world map
Following the recent announcement of Icarus Studios' development of a Fallen Earth mobile companion iPhone application, Icarus Studios, co-developer of Fallen Earth, the critically-acclaimed MMORPG, has teamed up with technology start-up AFK Interactive to extend the Fallen Earth mobile companion application to the Blackberry, Android, Brew, and Java platforms, set to be released in Q2 2010.
There hasn't been any information released yet about pricing and the application is not quite ready to hit live yet (it's said to be 99% completed).
Of course, that wasn't the only big news this week, as the announcement of a Macintosh-compatible version of its xScape platform and Fallen Earth game sent users cheering as well.
The Mac OS X compatibility project is something we’ve been excited to see implemented for quite a while," said Brad Lineberger, Chief Technical Officer of Icarus Studios. "Our goal for the project is to allow Mac users to run all of our existing and future games in their native OS."
For optimal play, Mac users will need to run OS X 10.5 Leopard or later, using an Intel-based system with dedicated graphics hardware.
The Beta version of the client is available now and interested candidates can visit www.fallenearth.com to participate.
