WoWScrnShot_012710_202050Victory in Warsong Gulch

My second foray into PvP turned out much better than my first, and I actually recorded more killing blows than deaths (four to three). Some of that might have had to do with my being a little higher in level (13), though I was aided considerably by a rather dim level 10 mage who kept trying to polymorph me. Silly mage, you don’t polymorph a druid! It just makes him mad (and, in my case, a bear).

Another key factor in my victory was the successful auction of a few rare gems, netting me nearly four gold and allowing me to buy up my skills, which I had lacked my first time in the Gulch. Also, I can now fly from Thunder Bluff to the Crossroads without worrying about whether I can afford to get back. I could just fly around all day…

(…or night. I was wondering if the game had day/night cycles until I realized, rather suddenly, that it was dark out. Other than my brief visits to The Moonglade, it had always appeared to be bright and sunny (or occasionally rainy) and I was despairing at the notion of ever seeing the moon.)

WoWScrnShot_013010_105408After getting down from the high of flying (that’s supposed to be a joke – why aren’t you laughing?), it was back to the Barrens for more questing. It was mostly the typical killing and looting, though my druid quest line had me saving sickly gazelles and transforming them into Bambi – at least that’s how it looked to me. After healing the sickly gazelles and reporting back to Dendrite Starblaze in Moonglade and then back to my class trainer in Thunder Bluff (sharing an elevator with a level 80 along the way – ooh, nice mount), I perused my new skills. Let’s see, upgraded attacks, an aquatic form…

Travel form? +40% run speed? That’s what I’m talking about! Who needs a mount?

Having just made level 16 over the weekend, I logged out, but not before taking a moment to view the original opening cinematic for the game. I’m a sucker for pretty CG movies, and this one was no exception. If you haven’t taken the time to view it lately, do it and try to remember what it was like when you saw it for the first time and WoW was new to you, like it is for me.

I'm not sure where next week's adventures will take me, though, oddly enough, I’m already getting nostalgic for “old” places like Bloodhoof Village. All I know for sure is that I'm definitely ready to get out of the Barrens. I hear this Orgrimmar place is pretty big…
