I will admit George Carlin is one of my favorite comedians and I am extremely fond of his "People I Can Do Without" skit. So in my odd search of a title and a tribute to him as well as getting out some of in game angst I found this appropriate. Here is my list, with a little help from various players as well. What list, you may ask? The list of gamers that just get under my skin...it's bad enough we have to put up with the gold farmers who now whisper you at the most inconvenient of times, but when other players start doing the ridiculous and in some cases extremely rude things to annoy others they end up on my list.
I'm going to begin with one of my biggest pet peeves, the gold beggar, you know the player that wants you to give them gold without really working for it. One player asked me had all epic gear on and said he needed it for his mount, I told him to get a profession and earn it. Seriously, if you have that gear, you can farm materials or something or run dailies to make money.
Moving on, my next fave is the instance critic. I can almost guarantee all of us have run with one of these. The gamer that whines and complains about everything in the instance you are running. How awful the tank is, how there is not enough DPS, yet they manage to barely contribute to fix the problem. If you could reach through the computer to tell the person to shut up and do their job you'd feel ten times better, but in most cases its best to just kick the person.
Let's not forget the griefer, for those unfamiliar with this term a griefer is a person who goes out of their way to interrupt others game play. It's a bit more predominant on Role Play servers but, they manage to do it on others as well. Griefing can range from interrupting role play, by acting like a five year old that needs constant attention to the ninja looter. Most of us have experience with a person like this. And my ignore list is surprisingly full of these people.
We also can't forget the know it all, this one always gets under my skin. This is the player that thinks they know absolutely everything and makes sure you know it when it comes to playing other peoples classes. To top it off, they feel the need to tell you how to play yours and are never wrong. Arguing with them just tends to add fuel to the fire and make them more adamant about how wrong you are. These people tend to thrive on annoying others and tend to be so horrendously wrong it's laughable.
I could probably keep going here, but it would take a long time to cover them all. I wanted to kind of scratch the surface with some of the top nuisances, to conclude this Mavanalais brought up one that I know irks numerous people. The infamous "drama queen or king", how many of us have dealt with these players? Players like this are the ones who are never happy unless they are center of attention and our surrounded by drama, they make you feel like the game is a bad soap opera. They also have the bad habit of sucking you into whatever scenario is going on around them to add to the drama. Run...do not walk away from these people, all they do is cause headaches and make game play a drag.
Now again these are only a few examples of Gamers I Can Do Without, and I have a feeling many have you have dealt with one if not a few of these. All I can say is thank you Blizzard for blessing us with the ignore function, it makes avoiding these people that much easier and our game play so much better.
