The day has finally come when everyone can own a home...in Free Realms! Brought to you by way of the most recent game update, Free Realms Player Housing is meant to give you a little space in the world (or a big space depending on the house you buy) to call your own.
The Free Realms development team has been hard at work tweaking and fine tuning the housing feature so that owning a home will be a fun experience for all players. The artists and game designers built unique furniture and decorations so that you can make your house look just how you want it to. And, the programmers focused on making it easy to place and move your items and decorations within your house.
Overall, player housing will allow you to get really creative with your interior and exterior decorating skills, then you can invite friends over to show off your new pad or throw a house party and go wild! This housing guide will help introduce you to home ownership in Free Realms.
HOME SWEET HOME
To get to your house, click the house icon at the bottom of your screen. Players will automatically be granted the houses that they are entitled to upon their first login after the housing game update. When you click the housing icon, your houses will pop up.
Currently there are three types of player houses available: The Apartment, The Small Wilds House and The Large Wilds House. The Apartment has one bedroom and is free for all players; it will be automatically granted to all non-members and members alike. The Small Wilds House has two bedrooms, a small yard and is set in the wilderness. This house is free for members, so if you are a Free Realms member you will get both an apartment and a small house. The Large Wilds House is also set in the Sacred Grove wilderness, but has three bedrooms and a large yard. This house is only available through a Marketplace Station Cash purchase.
Non-members can also buy The Small Wilds House in the marketplace. Players can preview both homes in the marketplace and also buy more than one of each house.
While The Apartment has no exterior, The Small and Large Wilds Houses have yards where you can place fun and decorative items or just run around with your pets! Pets can find treasure in your yard (you must have one selected as your active pet for this to happen). When you enter either your Small or Large house, up to ten of your pets will spawn automatically all around you. If you have more than ten pets, ten will spawn at random. When in your apartment, you are only allowed one active pet.

DECORATOR EXTRORDINAIRE
Now, down to business...To decorate your house, click the big "Decorate" button. It's in the middle of your screen - you can't miss it.
A new window will pop up, and on the left you will see a number. This number represents how many items you have in your house out of the max number allowed. It is the limit for how many items you can place in your house's exterior and interior. The max number of items for the apartment is 75 items, the small house max is set for 250 items, and the large house max is a whopping 400 items.
Now look to the right of the open window. You have the option to lock your house. This makes it so that other players cannot enter your home if you don't invite them.
The circled icons at the top of this pop-up window allow you to select the type of item you'd like to place. You can choose from: Housing, Wall Hanging, Furniture, Decorations, Exterior Decorations and Outdoors. The squared icons below will show which items you have in your inventory to decorate with. If you have more than one of an item, a number will also be visible on the icon. If you mouse over the item you can get more details.
Click the item and you will be able to place it in your home or yard. Just move it around and click again when the item is placed where you want it to be. Once you place the item, you can click it again for more options. This is only available when you have the decorate menu up. Removing an item does not delete an item. It puts it back into your inventory so you can get it back whenever you want. Items can only be placed in certain locations. If an item cannot be placed somewhere, it will turn a fantastic shade of red when you are trying to place it. If you insist on trying to drop it there anyway, you will get an error message.

You can also place interior items outside and vice versa. Items can also be placed along the walls and you can even stack items on top of each other to create interesting results (like stacking items and then remove the bottom ones, leaving the top items to float). There are some cool things to note when decorating your pad: Some items, like the jukebox, need a bit of interface interaction to fully become active.
Housing items can be obtained through the Marketplace, Coin Shop, quests and the Daily Spin wheel. Most Marketplace and Coin Shop items are color customizable at purchase.
COME OVER AGAIN SOON
To leave your house instance, click the door icon which is located on the gate outside your house or over the door to your apartment.
To go to a friend's house, select one of your friends from your Friends List and click the "Go To House" icon (the left house icon). A popup will appear with that player's houses that are available for visiting.
To invite a friend to your home, click the "Invite to House" option. This will give the other player a approve/deny popup at the bottom right corner or their screen. Note this will only work if your home is unlocked. The house does not even show up as an option to go to on the popup if it is locked. This also means if a player tries to port to you, and you are in your home that is locked, they cannot get to you.
ITEMS GALORE
Items for your home are not just about couches, desks and tables, there are literally hundreds of cool items that are available for your new Free Realms Player House. A group of Free Realms artists and designers was specifically tasked with creating a load of extraordinary items that you can buy like a gumball machine, jukebox, aquarium and even a full blown jack-in-the-box! Other "fun items" vary wildly, from a talking stone head to an enormous rocket ship that will launch when you tell it to.
You'll also want to be certain to check out the Mega Dance Floor which is sure to be the center of any house party. And of course, no party would be complete without an AHSA (Automatic Head Size Augmenter) which makes the heads of all the players and pets in your home grow huge.
